
Rahul Das

Rahul Das is a patent attorney with the Office of Policy and International Affairs (OPIA) at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Mr. Das is on the patents team at OPIA and he develops and formulates domestic and international patent policy and provides advice on U.S. treaty obligations. Mr. Das currently manages the OPIA IP licensing and technology transfer portfolios. Additionally, he is a member of the India and China teams.
Prior to joining OPIA, Mr. Das was an intellectual property and technology transactions attorney and advised clients on all aspect of intellectual property including patent prosecution, trade secrets, copyrights, intellectual property due diligence, opinions, client counseling, patent litigation, and patent licensing. Mr. Das has worked with nationally recognized law firms and as an in-house counsel in large organizations and startups. He has managed patent portfolios, prepared and prosecuted a wide array of patent applications and counseled research and business teams on intellectual property related matters. He has also served as a general counsel to an early stage technology startup.
Mr. Das has successfully negotiated a wide range of intellectual property transactions, including intellectual property licenses, university/industry collaborations and other early stage technology transfer transactions, joint development ventures, and other complex intellectual property related deals.
Prior to his legal career, Rahul was a process engineer with Jacobs Engineering serving the oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
