Amy Pisani, MA
CEO, Vaccinate Your Family
Bio:
Amy Pisani is a leading authority in vaccine advocacy and education. As the Chief Executive Officer of Vaccinate Your Family (VYF), she has played an integral part in setting the standards for immunization in America today. Since 1996, Amy has worked with the board of directors and staff to execute the mission and goals of VYF. Following the model developed by VYF’s cofounders, Amy and her team enlist the support of elected officials, concerned community leaders, and representatives of many national and local organizations. Amy leads the group in legislative education, building alliances with like-minded interests, working with the media to ensure science-based reporting on vaccines, and educating the public through various mediums.
Amy has overseen the growth of VYF’s social media presence, reaching over four million people annually with science-based information about the importance of timely vaccinations and the safety of vaccines across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. As part of the effort to ensure equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines and to educate the public about the virus and vaccines VYF’s team members have served on the AD Council COVID Collaborative, Made to Save Collaborative, the HHS COVID Community Corps and the White House Equity Panel. Through a recent partnership with the National Council of Negro Women and other allied organizations, VYF is working to strengthen efforts to protect communities of color from COVID-19 and other vaccine-preventable diseases.
Amy maintains the organization’s active educational footing by presenting at conferences, hosting and presenting at congressional briefings, monitoring and acting on regulation and policy changes that affect immunization delivery, and developing campaigns that have educated hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
Amy’s commitment to public health is also evident in several other roles. Amy recently served as the President of her local Rotary Club, where she was been honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. She served as a public member of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Vaccine Advisory Committee from 2011-2015. Currently, she is serving as a founding member of the 317 Coalition to ensure stable congressional immunization funding, on the steering committee of the Adult Vaccine Access Coalition, the HPV Roundtable, and several other coalitions who share VYF’s mission.
Beyond pediatrics, Amy gained broader healthcare advocacy experience as the Education Program Coordinator at the Optical Society of America and as Senior Staff Specialist for the American Nurses Association. She received her Master’s of Science from Gallaudet University for the Deaf, Washington, DC, and her Baccalaureate Degree in Psychology, from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC.
